Updating blog stuff

I’ve updated my WordPress installation (yeah, I know, a little bit later…) and as long as I was expending few time on reviewing some of most popular WordPress plugins.

So I decide give a chance to All in One SEO Pack which is -nowadays- most used for SEO improvement on WordPress.

Easy to install from your dashboard and easy to configure, just a few options to fulfil, click on Save and go for it. Let’s see in a couple of weeks -maybe less- how does it improve our Google appearance. I’ll keep you up to date.

…and by now, I’m not bored at all with this simple & clean theme, I have to say.

Which are the three most used languages in WordPress?

I keep pendind to review a nice image showing a lot of data about WordPress. Some of them are really impressive, for instance, according to Alexa 22.5% of 1 top million ranked use a CMS, and on the top of the CMS you gonna find Word Press.

As long as I’m concerned by language issues I’ve looked more deply on languages data. Number one, as you may imagine is English, but number two is Spanish!. Portuguese is third position and Catalonish does not appear.

I’ve found a huge number of WordPress sites running on version 2 instead of version 3. Sure they got very good reasons… or so I hope, ’cause it’s really important to get updated, don’t understimate security issues.

You may have a look by your own to this interesting amount of data.

Writter2ePub also for LibreOffice

Couple of months ago I decided to substitute my OpenOffice for LibreOffice, it was my humble contribution to enforce LibreOffice since it seems to me a more free and open alternative, specially after Oracle’s movements.

By reading some blog (I don’t remember which one) I’ve found an interesting extension for OpenOffice (yes, I’ve wrotte OpenOffice). This extension converts to ePub any text document you writte down in your OpenOffice.

I’ve read the instructions about this Writer2ePub and I’ve followed it step by step but on my LibreOffice installation. Everything runs smoothly. It’s almost a “next-next-finish” installation.

So if you wan to convert easily your texts to ePub without additional software give a try to Writter2ePub, I’m going to do it. For sure you may use Calibre, but this, is added software to your computer.

Akismet plugin not need ’till…today

I’ve being writting on my personal blog without special spam impact since today. Yesterday starts a spam wave trying to comment older post.

I’ve got comments closed on this site (if you wanna contact me, please drop me a line to “pere” plus this domain following the ‘at’ sign) but from time to time few spams arrives to older comments. I simply tag those comments and then I delete it. That’s all.

But today spam has start to increase so I decide to active akismet plugin. Pretty easy to do. You just register yourself, they give you a key, you put that key in your plugin configuration and that’s all.

Let’s see in a few days if things change. By the way, I checked the option:

Automatically discard spam comments on posts older than a month

I’m sure it would help a lot.

Update: Three hours later 7 spam comments has been stopped by Akismet plugin, don’t forget my site it is not a famous site.
